Xu Weiwei Conducted Academic Exchanges and Delivered a Special Report at The AMS Payload Operations Control Centre at CERN

From January 6 to 16, 2020, Weiwei Xu, Executive Director of the Particle Physics Research Center at Shandong Institute of Advanced Technology (SDIAT), conducted academic exchanges and delivered a special report at the AMS Payload Operations Control Centre (POCC) at CERN. At the AMS Collaboration Meeting, Weiwei Xu introduced the establishment and development plan of SDIAT to the AMS collaboration, including AMS physics research, the construction of the AMS Global Data Center, and the Silicon Detector Laboratory.

In the early stage, all project teams of the AMS experiment unanimously approved that the Shandong Institute of Advanced Technology (SDIAT) officially became a member of the AMS International Collaboration. They also unanimously acknowledged that SDIAT will surely play a leading role and make fundamental contributions in the future AMS experiments.

The Particle Physics Research Center mainly performs research on particle physics and astroparticle physics with large scientific facilities, aiming to establish a leading position in the field of space particle detection. Based on the AMS experiment led by Nobel Laureate Prof. Samuel C.C. Ting, the center explores dark matter, antimatter, and the origin of cosmic rays, while also developing space particle radiation forecasting. Additionally, it engages in cutting-edge technology research, including silicon detectors, cryogenic superconducting detectors, etc. accumulating experience in large-scale scientific projects. Its ultimate goal is to propose and organize new large-scale experiments to investigate the fundamental structure of matter and the basic laws of the universe.
