Roberto Battiston was conferred the 2019 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People's Republic of China.
At the National Science and Technology Awards Conference held on the 10th of January, 2020, Professor Roberto Battiston, an internationally renowned particle physicist and expert in space science, was conferred the 2019 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People's Republic of China.
Professor Battiston is former President of the Italian Space Agency and currently serves as Chair of the Department of Physics at the University of Trento. He has maintained a long-standing and in-depth collaboration with Nobel Laureate in Physics and Honorary President of the Shandong Institute of Advanced Technology, Professor Samuel C. C. Ting, through the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) project on the International Space Station. Working closely with Chinese scientists, Professor Battiston has been instrumental in the development of key technologies and the advancement of fundamental scientific research, achieving a number of world-leading results. His efforts have made a significant contribution to strengthening China’s international cooperation in science and technology.
